Mother's Day

This sweet holiday is a day when children and families can honor the women in their lives who have raised, taught, helped, and poured into them. Although this holiday is not a biblical one, God instructs honor and respect toward mothers (see Ephesians 6:1-3).

God blesses the family model, and He has orchestrated having children. Therefore, it can be particularly painful when a woman is not able to have children. Some women are unable to conceive, while others never marry and therefore, do not become mothers. Whatever her unique story may be, there are women who long to be a mother but have not had that desire met.

While your children may come home with sweet cards, you still play a vital part. It’s a moment to extend your sincere thanks and praise for her valuable contributions to your family. There are gestures that tell her you not only “see her,” but you truly want her to feel loved, cherished, and appreciated.

If you are a mom or grandmom, you are deserving of blessing and honor for who you are and for all you do. No matter what your age - single or married - here is a prayer of blessing for you for every good work, every good word, and for every act of love you have ever offered on behalf of the ones you love.

This day is a rare invitation to rest and recharge. Make sure you ask us how that can best be accomplished. Give us the guilt-free space we very infrequently receive to invest in doing something we enjoy just for ourselves. Maybe it's going to a movie, taking a hike, free time at the gym, a pedicure, time to read a book, a meet up with someone special, or whatever else helps to fill our cup so that we can show up everyday as moms with grace and love.

We see women in the Bible shine with confidence, talent, and leadership. As we dig deeper into moms in the Bible, we find traits that surprise us and reveal their strength, courage, and persistence.

Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and I want to say I see you, and more importantly, God sees you.

No matter what you face this Mother’s Day, you can turn to God and experience peace and healing through prayer. We have collected several prayers that can apply to your journey of motherhood. It is our hope that these will encourage your soul and speak life into your calling as a mom.
