Seth, Michael and Lauren held up one afternoon in Seth's makeshift demo studio and wrote this song as they gazed across the Methow Valley from Eaglemont's top floor "honeymoon" suite. As word of this fun new song spread throughout other parts of the house, the other songwriters found themselves one by one sneaking up the stair for a quick listen. The afternoon ended up quite a party with 8 or more of us jumping in to put gang vocals on the demo. The writers introduced the song the next day during our worship times and here's how it sounded...

It was during a moment of reflection while on this retreat that songwriter James Tealy recalled his first intersection with song and scripture. "The hymn 'Holy Holy Holy' was on page one of the Baptist hymnal in my church growing up," explains Tealy. "I remember as a kid hearing my dad read Isaiah 6 and connecting the scripture with that hymn text, which had been burned into my heart. The words of these verses still stir in me deeply when we sing it." When Michael Farren approached James Tealy and Henry Seeley about breathing new life into the classic church hymn, Tealy and Seeley were admittedly a bit skeptical, but Farren's impassioned persistence soon changed their minds. Together, the three songwriters set out to create a new chorus and chord structure that would reignite the passion of true worship in listeners and worship leaders. "Working with Henry and Michael to find a new window into this old song was so rewarding for me. It's a picture of where we're going, of what's next: gathered with saints and angels declaring the holiness of our King."

God designed humans to want to believe in something. That's the image of God that is in us. But as G. K. Chesterton famously put it, when we reject the God of the Bible, we don't believe in nothing; we believe in everything -- including Little Green Men.

Christ taught a way of Life, not a religion. No one wants to step up and do what needs done. Its easy to sit and talk like you know what you are talking about. It is easy to throw religion around.
We have eliminated God and instead we are living a cartoon. We have become Barbies and G.I. Joes. God doesn't like cartoon churches. God is a Way of Life. It is time to get out of the cartoon.
