God Sees Your Silent Nights | Your Nightly Prayer

Father, Thank You for carrying me through both my grief and my hope. Tonight, I rest in the truth that You see me—fully, gently, and with compassion. Thank You for drawing near in my sorrow and meeting me with Your presence. As I step into this holiday season, may it not be barren but fruitful, marked by Your nearness. Fix my eyes on You, the One who holds all things in Your hands and who never overlooks my pain. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Prayer of Gratitude for God’s Greatest Gift | Your Daily Prayer

Dear Lord, I’m so thankful for the greatest gift You have ever given—the gift of Your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank You for thinking of me before I even knew how desperately I needed hope. What an incredible gift from a God whose love is limitless and whose generosity never fails. Help me not only to speak words of gratitude but to live a life that reflects it—through obedience, service, and a heart centered on You. Cleanse me from any sin that keeps me from fully treasuring what You’ve done. Renew a right spirit within me and help me to walk in gratitude daily. Thank You for Jesus, for His coming, His sacrifice, and the salvation He secured for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

You’ve Never Seen Chess Played Quite Like This Before

You’ve never seen chess played quite like this before. The popular game has undergone a significant twist, introducing an entirely new level of difficulty for players. Watch the short but jaw-dropping clip to hear and learn about the totally new and unexpected way some people are playing chess.

Most people love playing games of some kind. Games such as checkers, Uno and solitaire help us relax and take our minds off our concerns and worries for a short period of time. They are beneficial for the blood pressure and the mental health, and most of them require minimal effort.

However, some games do require much more thinking and strategy. Players must be focused on the task at hand and even thinking three or four steps ahead, in some cases. Now, the one game like this that immediately comes to most people’s minds is chess. There are numerous methods and approaches to playing the game, and that doesn’t even take into account trying to keep track of all the different ways the pieces can move across the board.

Well, a video posted on YouTube shows that some people are adding a whole new level of difficulty to the game. They are playing the game underwater. Yes, you read that right. They have to dive down to the bottom of a pool in order to make their moves. What is referred to as “diving chess” was first invented in London, England, and has since spread to other European countries.

An American, Hans Neimann, is one of the people who are playing this strange form of chess and recently did so during an exhibition in South Africa. The clip notes that the American player performed well during the exhibition matchup, ultimately emerging victorious.

I don’t think I’ll be participating in “diving chess” and think I’ll wait for the “diving checkers,” instead. What about you? Is playing chess underwater something that appeals to you?

1 Timothy 4:8 “For the training of the body is of profit for a little, but religion is of profit in every way, giving hope for the life which now is, and for that which is to come.”

A Prayer for Generosity Like the Wise Men | Your Daily Prayer

Long before Christmas lists, shopping carts, and wrapping paper, there were gifts given for one reason alone: worship. Sophia Bricker opens this devotional with the story of Saint Nicholas—a man whose quiet, selfless generosity became the seed of a much later legend. His life reflects the heart of someone whose giving flowed out of devotion to Christ, not cultural expectation. But even before Nicholas, Scripture gives us another unforgettable picture of joyful generosity: the wise men. The Magi traveled far, guided by a star and propelled by hope. When they finally reached the child Jesus, they didn’t debate whether the gifts were too costly or wonder if He “needed” them. They simply bowed in awe and opened their treasures. Their gifts were symbolic—and sincere: Gold for His kingship. Frankincense for His priesthood. Myrrh for His sacrificial death. But more than symbolism, their offering revealed their hearts. They gave because they loved. They gave because they believed. They gave because worship compelled them. Jesus later taught, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21). Our spending, our giving, our serving—they all reveal what we value most. For the follower of Christ, generosity is not an obligation. It is an overflow. Like Saint Nicholas, we feel convicted when our resources center on ourselves. Like the wise men, we long to lay what we have at Jesus’ feet. Like those early givers, our generosity flows from beholding the Savior for who He truly is. And the way generosity looks will be unique for each of us. Not everyone gives gold or frankincense. Not everyone tosses gifts through windows. But every believer has something to offer—time, talent, resources, compassion, presence, or encouragement. Generosity begins with worship. Worship leads to open hands. Open hands lead to lives that honor Christ. Bible Reading: “When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.” – Matthew 2:10–11 (NIV) Takeaway Truths The wise men’s gifts were rooted in joyful worship, not duty. Generosity reveals what we treasure most. Followers of Christ give from abundance, not scarcity. True generosity begins with beholding Jesus. Let’s Pray Great Savior, I stand in awe of Your majesty and grace. How incredible it is that You, the King of all creation, entered this world as a humble child and chose to identify Yourself with us. The wise men saw what so many missed—Your worth, Your glory, and Your identity as the promised Messiah. They bowed in worship and gave freely, not from pressure, but from overflowing joy. Lord, develop in me this same heart of generosity. Help me to use my time, my resources, and my gifts to honor You. Guide my giving so that it reflects trust, gratitude, and devotion. Everything I have is from You. Make me courageous and joyful in sharing my life with others, so that my generosity points back to You, the Giver of salvation and life. Amen.

Faith Like the Shepherds | Your Nightly Prayer

Father, Thank You for sending Your Son and for revealing His coming first to humble shepherds. Their story reminds me that You draw near to the lowly and the willing. Help me submit my heart to You with the same simple faith and obedience they showed. This Christmas season, overwhelm me with Your love and joy. Let the miracle of the nativity reshape my focus and deepen my desire to share Your story with others. Amen.

A Prayer When Christmas Looks a Bit Tight This Year | Your Daily Prayer

Dear Jesus, Christmas feels a bit tight this year, and I’m struggling with feelings of guilt, fear, and inadequacy. Remind me that these feelings do not come from You. Help me remember that the purpose of Christmas has never been about gifts, spending, or trying to keep up with others. Teach me to embrace simplicity. Help me find joy in making homemade gifts or offering thoughtful gestures, even if they look different from years past. Calm my heart, silence comparison, and center my mind on Your goodness. Bring my focus back to You — the true reason for the season. Fill my heart with peace, gratitude, and confidence that You will provide everything I truly need. Thank You for being my source, my security, and my Savior. Amen.

A Prayer of Wonder at the Manger | Your Daily Prayer

Heavenly Father, Thank You for being the God who enters stables and brings glory into the lowest places. Thank You that You do not wait for perfection before You draw near. Forgive me for believing You need my life to be tidy before You can work in it. Help me rediscover the wonder of the manger—the miracle of Perfect Love entering an imperfect world. For everyone whose holiday season feels broken, empty, or nothing like the pictures, remind them that You are the God who specializes in the unexpected places. When I’m tempted to hide my mess, remind me that You came through one. Thank You that no situation is too humble, too painful, or too chaotic for You to enter with transforming love. In the name of Jesus, who still comes to us in the low places, Amen.

This Powerful AGT Audition Reminds How a Single Opportunity Can Spark a New Future

This powerful America’s Got Talent audition reminds us how a single opportunity can spark a new future. This audition and what happened immediately after it completely changed this young woman’s life. Watch the short but heartwarming clip to see how quickly someone’s life can change.

Life is a journey, with many twists, turns and detours along the way. Anyone who claims they have everything figured out is either delusional, a liar or insane, but more likely a combination of all three. Life rarely, if ever, takes the straight, most direct path from Point A to Point B, which is something most people know very well.

Sure, we may have plans or envision ourselves doing this or going there in the future. But, as the old saying goes, if you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans, and that is very accurate. Things in life can change quickly, for good or bad. People who go on shows like The Voice, American Idol and America’s Got Talent are all hoping a two to three-minute audition will forever change their lives. A clip posted on YouTube shows this is precisely what happened to one woman and her pup.

In the video, Sara Carson and her pup, Hero, walked out onto the America’s Got Talent stage, and after a few moments of back and forth with the judges, got right into their act. Three of the four judges were not thoroughly impressed with what they witnessed. Simon Cowell, however, saw something in her and Hero and passionately pleaded with his fellow judges to put them through to the next round.

This turned out to be the spark that changed their lives forever. Up until that moment, Sara and Hero were homeless, living in her car. No one believed in her and what she was doing until her audition on America’s Got Talent, which changed everything. Sometimes, all it takes is one person to believe in you and give you a chance.

These Brave First Graders Jumped into Action—and Saved Their Teacher

These brave first graders jumped into action and saved their teacher. The heroic trio knew precisely what to do during this emergency, helping to keep their teacher alive. Watch the short but powerful clip to hear about the scary circumstances and how these little guys didn’t waste any time; they immediately did what they could to help their teacher in distress.

Life is an unpredictable journey, marked by numerous twists and turns along the way. Sure, we may have an idea of what is coming or how a particular situation may play out, but we cannot be certain. Things do happen, most of which are out of our control. But that’s life, right? When you have plans, life can and often does come along and completely change them.

Since life is so unpredictable, emergencies do occur. Of course, because we never know when they will take place, the best we can do is to be prepared and know what to do. That’s all you can hope for when one of the unforeseen and unfortunate situations happens.

Thankfully, when an emergency occurred in the classroom that impacted an elementary school teacher, three young men knew what to do. They did not shy away from the situation.  A clip posted on YouTube tells the story of how they all stepped in, in a big way, to save a life.

A teacher in Virginia started choking on a piece of food in the classroom. That’s when the three young men took action instead of cowering during the emergency. They divided and conquered, with each of them completing different but crucial tasks. One alerted a nearby teacher to the situation, and another contacted the office and informed the administration that their teaching was choking. At the same time, a third child performed a modified version of the Heimlich maneuver on the choking teacher.

“The student next to me bent me over and started doing back blows to my back to where I dislodged the food,” the teacher said.

“They 100 percent saved my life,” she later added.

The three first graders turned in an A+ performance, with all three of them lifesaving heroes.

Students Stunned When Hugh Jackman Unexpectedly Stops By Choir Practice

Students were stunned when Hugh Jackman unexpectedly stopped by their choir practice. The Hollywood actor gave the high school students quite a thrill when he made a surprise appearance. Watch the short but heartwarming clip to see how the young people responded when the Wolverine actor walked into the room.

We never really know where life is going to take us, what will happen or who we might encounter. Anyone who claims to have all the answers and knows exactly what the future holds is either a liar or delusional. But it’s that unpredictability and inability to predict the future that makes life so exciting, and at times, so frightening.

Our lives can be changed, for better or worse, in the blink of an eye. What makes this even more worrisome to many people is that it often occurs regardless of our actions. For those who believe they are in control and can determine their path and future, that’s essentially a façade. They are fooling themselves.

A clip posted on YouTube perfectly demonstrates how random life can be at times. A high school was in the middle of a rehearsal when Hugh Jackman happened to walk in, and to say that the students were excited would be a severe understatement.  Immediately after the “Les Misérables” actor enters the room, they start screaming, shouting and jumping for joy. They could not believe their eyes.

But giving the actor a loud and joyous welcome wasn’t all the students did. As the clip shows, the choir performed, singing him a tune from the beloved musical “The Greatest Showman.”
At one point during their performance, Hugh turned toward the camera and appeared to have gotten choked up listening to the youngsters sing.

So why was the Hollywood actor at the Milwaukee high school? He was apparently in the Midwestern city to promote his latest movie, which is based on a couple from Wisconsin.
